When Do They Suicide?
The birds do not commit suicide in every month of theof year but they do ,highlight this village or only hill station of Assam in the months September, October and November every year. The suicide in this area is not only committed by the local birds but also by the migratory birds. Tiger bittern, little egret, Indian pita, Kingfisher, Black drongo and green pigeon are the names of some birds which commits suicide.
Not only this there are more than 40 other species of birds in Jatinga which gets disrupted between the hours of 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. they lose control over themselves and flies on blindly.
Who Forces Them To Commit Sucide?
According to many studies done ,by the ornithologists (people who study about birds) it has been revealed that this happens because of the magnetic force. In the months of September, October and November the winds blow rapidly and it is fog everywhere everything is covered with fog.
Other than this many water bodies get flooded by that time due to which many birds lose their homes because of which they are forced to migrate to other places where because of the fog there is less light and the birds are not able to see clearly and they collide with things around them such as houses, buildings, trees and vehicles. Thus, causing their death.

Many people even say and believe that it is not the nature killing the innocent souls but the people of that village are committing this heart-breaking act because they believe that these are not the birds but they are the spirits of the sky falling down to scare them all so they themselves do a practice to kill these little innocent souls. They take a long bamboo pole to capture these birds and they continue to beat them till they are dead. They don’t keep this act limited to 50 – 60 birds but they take it to the number of millions.
How Can The Birds Be Saved?
The birds can be the saved in following given ways –
- By educating the villagers.
- By making them aware and letting them know that there is nothing like ghosts.
- By increasing lighting facilities in these areas so that there can be proper light attained even in foggy days.
- By making bird sanctuaries so that birds can be kept safely at one place with proper care.
