Ankur’s Early Life
Ankur’s childhood was very pleasant and he loved his childhood life. They had a family of four, his Mom, Dad, and six years younger sister. He grew up in Lajpat Nagar south colony, Delhi. His mom and dad were from Srinagar, Kashmir, but Ankur never stayed in Kashmir and they both grew up their entire life there. And his parents got married in 1979 and he was born on 25 August 1980 in Amritsar.
His father was a sales professional and he had travelling job as well in his entire life. In 1983 his whole family moved to Delhi. Mother was a school teacher. Before they were a middle-class family. But his parents send him to the best Convent Schools- said Ankur.
His parents send his Delhi for his further education. After that, he started doing a Ph.D. in physics at Michigan State University (MS Astrophysics) then he dropped out in between when he was 24. Then he came to India and pursue MBA from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad
Giving Back to the Parents
Warikoo believes that his parent’s generation had an incredibly hard time, it not that they choose that but they are born in the 1940s or ’50s which was the early years of India’s Independence. The country was going through so much stuff and a lot of uncertainty and the only thing that mattered at that time was survival.
One of the interviewees mentioned that he feels so lucky that he has now reached a position where he can begin to give them (Parents) some luxuries that they couldn’t afford and those luxuries needn’t be about money but letting them see a life they never saw but always looked at others as an aspiration and wondered if they would ever get that life.

Warikoo had only one goal in his life since childhood to become a NASA space scientist and that was all he cared about. And he loved space and he loved everything about it. But after that, he realized that it was an infatuation and he felt at that point in time when he was doing his Ph.D. in the US that he will not enjoy this and will not be happy with his whole life. Furthermore, he always wanted to do something big and something meaningful & impactful in his life. Then he took a decision to drop out P.hD came back from the US.
At that time he realized that plans or goals are of no use. Then he took admitted to an MBA, ISB, Hyderabad.
What best habit has he acquired in his life?
When he was in 8th class he started writing in his notebook all the time he spend in a day in a series of hours. This habit he continues till the age of 26 in his life. If someone asked him about any of the days in those that what he did in that hour, he has the answer of that what he actually did at that time. This habit helped him a lot to save his precious time.

Warikoo has the ability to not care about what the world thinks of him or what people think of him when he came back from the U.S. after dropping out of his Ph.D.
Starting of his Career
Ankur got a job after doing his MBA at A.T Kearney a consulting company. As he was working at A.T Kearney, he worked in the Real Estate Media & Entertainment Sector in different places like Dubai, New York, and India. Then in 2007, his friend Vivek Pahwa founded the company Accentium, and he was the co-founder of the company. He does work for the company while working full-time at A.T. Kearney.
Afterward, he left the job at A.T Kearney in 2009 and started doing full-time work at Accentium Web, Gurgaon. This company operates many websites in Indian Consumer Space like Secondshaadi.com which was a matrimonial service for getting remarriage, and Gaadi.com which was sold to Naspers group in 2011 and was taken by Cardekho.com in 2015. Then he left the company in September 2010. Then he started working as a venture partner in Rocket Internet Headquartered in 2010 December at Berlin till March 2011.
When Ankur Warikoo Got Famous?
When Groupon entered India through an acquisition, Ankur started the Groupon India Business in April 2011. Being a CEO of the India Business, he also addressed the Groupon APAC business of India, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. From July 2014, he was one of the board members 2014 to 2017, of the Indian School of Business, New Delhi.
Also in July 2014, he becomes an angel investor at so many internet and technology companies. Then finally he founded nearbuy.com in Gurgaon, Haryana in March 2015. And he was the CEO of nearbuy.com till 2019 & till now in 2022, he is a board member of the company.
Now Ankur Warikoo is a digital educator, YouTuber, Entrepreneur, Mentor, Author, Angel Investor & Public speaker. He also helps people and students to learn about entrepreneurship, career management, and personal growth. Moreover, he is a positive personality. Recently, in 2021 he also launched one of his books named “Do Epic Shit” and this become one of the selling books in the year 2021. In the book, he wrote all the ideas on how he take off his career.

Personal Life
Ankur met Ruchi Bhudhiraja first time in his college, at the age of 19 after that they become friends. Then after dating for a long time they got married in 2007. Now they are parents of 2 children, one boy, and one daughter. Girl named Uzma Warikoo and Boy named Vidur Warikoo.
